I have spent quite some time in Sicily and I know, exactly, how you feel!!

Your description is, actually, very well done – you really got the whole feeling sooooo right.

Way to go!

I have to say I was extremely disappointed by Koevoet… went there on your recommendation that I always trust very much (and usually agree with), but I cannot believe we went to the same place.
The atmosphere is indeed very nice, very typical of Amsterdam.
But the food… moza and ham as starters were quite plain, the aspargus and cream… rich in cream but not really in asparagus. Our (8!) raviolis were extremely good (but still €15!), that’s true, but I found the tuna steak of my friend not fresh, chewy and lacking taste. Even Albert Heijn supplies better than that.Dessert, usually my favorite part, was a the most disappointing. A “tartufo”, some kind of ice-cream thingy certainly totally not home made and probably bought… from AH. And served for €8. To top it all, they charged us for extra wine (that we never ordered) and for extra bread (ok, that we did order, but come on, who charges for bread!).
On the positive side, for once that was a restaurant were the waiters were not fussy about bringing you tap water.
I probably would not go there again.
