Gastronomic audio tour of Amsterdam

One of my recent foodie projects was to create a gastro-tour of Amsterdam as an iPhone app. Essentially, you walk, I talk and various Dutch delicacies get consumed en route…

It starts at the top of the Singel (near Central Station) and winds its way across canals, through pleins and down straatjes, taking in the history and culture of typical Dutch specialities like smoked ossenworst, Gouda cheese, raw herring and old jenever. And of course it’s up to you how much you want to stop and taste along the way.

The tour takes about two-and-a-half hours, costs a couple of euros, works on your iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad and is available from the iTunes store. Spend a foodie afternoon on it yourself, or just get your visitors out of your hair for a few hours with the dulcet tones of yours truly to keep them company… and of course let me know your feedback afterwards!

Restaurant of the month!

I’ve actually done this sans iphone app! It was fun, I guess I really should update my blog with my Dutch experiences, since thus far I’ve been focusing on New York (despite having lived in Holland for about 2 years recently!). I think my Dutch database includes only one of my favorite brunch spots, Bagels and Beans! http://sssourabh.wordpress.com/2010/09/20/turn-left-to-eat/

Amazing blog, love your candid comments. Will definitely follow.

Thanks :-) And nice post on B&B!

Will the app be available for android phones, too?

Good question Becky! If you go to the GPSmycity or iTunes websites it might tell you; otherwise I’m afraid I have no idea…
