Amsterdam Foodie’s two-year anniversary!


Ok, amsterdamfoodie.nl has only existed for a year and a half, but it’s two years to the day since I wrote my first blog entry – back in the days of Aol Journals. Last week, my restaurant database hit 100 (that’s a lot of eating!) and I’m still hungry for the next hundred…

So, in celebration, I’ve decided to do what I do best (and incessantly) which is to make a list. This time, my top ten foodie highlights:

1. Favourite restaurant: mmm… this is too hard… Marius? Koevoet? District V?

2. Best recipe: Clementine Torte (and it must be good, for me to choose a dessert…)

6. Favourite food shop: Hollandaluz Spanish deli, Haarlemmerstraat 71

7. Coolest new ingredient: smoked ricotta

8. Top non-Amsterdam gastro destination: Maastricht

9. Gastronomic guru: AA Gill (sorry, again, I know…)

10. Proudest moment: being ‘spotted’ in a bar by the (self-confessed) ‘biggest fan of the Amsterdam Foodie’ (a small taste of celebritydom!)

Plus a few thank yous: firstly to my brother who makes the technical side of this website possible (and occasionally breaks things!). Secondly, to all the food bloggers out there who inspire me and make this blogging malarkey all the more delicious. And last but most importantly, those of you who actually read this far!

Hey Vicky! Congrats! And great website! By the way, Quattro Gatti was excellent last night; the service was friendly and the food fresh and a real “party in the mouth” ;-) – you should definitely check it out. I suggest making reservations online at diningcity. Cheers and happy eating,
