Celebrating the weekend with Sangria

Flu a thing of the past and drinking hat firmly back on head, it was high time I started going out again.
Last night I went to a Mexican restaurant, which is going to cause no end of trouble with the database since I’ve never reviewed Mexican food and we don’t have a category for it yet… But technical difficulties aside, I never quite get the point of Mexican food. I mean, who knows the difference between an enchilada and a quesadilla anyway? Burrito or fajita? It’s all the same to me… Not that I dislike it. I just don’t really need a menu. Bring me a tortilla with some meat and cheese in it, some mashed beans and guacamole, and who cares what it’s called?
Still, it’s a good excuse to drink Sangria, I suppose, so that’s exactly what we did. Rose’s Cantina occupies a good spot on the Reguliersdwarsstraat, so I imagine it gets plenty of tourist trade and doesn’t need to attract an awful lot of regulars. For this reason, I assume, it’s relatively expensive – just under €20 for an enchi-quesa-whatnot – and the presentation is a little sloppy. That said, the ambience is bubbly and the portions are big. If you’re into that sort of thing.
And afterwards you can always pop next door to Arc for a cocktail. Gotta love the weekend.

Oooooh, you’re really stirring aren’t you? mole poblano de guajolote, Kings Day bread, pheasant in green pipian sauce, ceviche, chimichangas ….? So I could go on but it teases just too much.
Heheh – maybe the restaurant doesn’t quite measure up?
Great article, though
